North Lincolnshire Council has recently produced a ‘Green Futures’ plan with the ambition to achieve net
zero as a Council by 2030. CPRE Northern Lincolnshire was involved in the consultation on the draft plan and the final version aims to ‘create a cleaner, greener, healthier and more sustainable North Lincolnshire’.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is one of the most important pieces of policy we will be responsible for – it sets a vision which will protect North Lincolnshire now and for future generations”.

The net zero target will include greening the Council’s fleet, planting 170,000 trees, encouraging and supporting renewable energy schemes and sourcing energy from renewable sources. The Council has also spent over £3m of government funding on insulation schemes and energy efficiency across the county.
