Best Kept Village 2025
Once again, we prepare to celebrate the best of Northern Lincolnshire.
We are very grateful for the continuing generous sponsorship of Quickline who sponsor the main competition and InterneTY,
the broadband provider, who sponsor the best community planting in each category, as well as the best kept playground, churchyard, war memorial, public house and cemetery.
One of the key features of the Best Kept Village competition is to encourage community involvement. The judges therefore, recognise the efforts of local residents to brighten up their village or town with colourful planting, including displays at the front of their properties; with 35% of the marks awarded for Gardens and Community areas. The rest of the marks are awarded for ‘General Tidiness and Appearance (25%) and Community Facilities and Features (40%).
Thanks to generous sponsorship, last year saw an increase in the prize money, which was gratefully received by the prize-winners. This will be repeated this year and there is already increased interest in applying for entry to the competition. There is a new entrant category, with free entry for the first year to encourage more villages and towns to join this popular competition. Entrants can feel pride that they are all contributing to making their local environment a more attractive place in which to live and visit.
Entries should be returned as soon as possible and no later than 30 June. Please contact Jenny Haynes for more information.
